Damask patterns provide a fabulous base for die cut images. I added the same rhinestones that I used on the butterfly body for the card border. 
When I saw this image, I couldn't wait to have it. Like the butterfly I used previously, this is another familiar image, but patterned in newsprint--something old now something new.
Here I combined stamped stars and die cut stars to create a masculine card.
I used a Spellbinder Label 8 die to cut the bottoms of these card layer pieces, but look forward to getting actual border dies from PTI to do the trick.

Here`s another jumbo sentiment, this time from Hero Arts. Used my new found knowledge of combining patterned papers to layer star die cuts of different sizes.
Another masculine themed card using the Cosmo Cricket Wanted papers and Spellbinder Stars. Jute twine literally ties the whole card together.

Another great idea from Vicki Buidick. I rolled back the corner of one piece of patterned paper to reveal another piece of patterned paper. Creates even more interest.
Once again, I stamped images on a smaller, detailed patterned paper. The new Distress Markers were perfect for colouring the floral image because it allowed me to make the flowers pink and the stems green; this is difficult with ink pads. I thought, however, that the sentiment wouldn't be distinct enough, so I stamped it on a separate piece of cardstock and popped it with foam squares.
I'm trying to build a collection of ready made cards so that I can use them at a moment's notice. While trying to come up with something to meet the needs of any/all occasions, this stamped image seemed suitable for an anniversary card. It was another image that I received in a stamped image swap. The frame and sentiment were also stickers included in the SEI patterned paper package.
Sometimes the product choices you make just seem to bring the whole card together. The patterned paper reminded me of wallpaper I would have seen in an older home and the Spellbinder 22 shape seemed to work with it. Both complimented the old teddy bear.
Just when you think you have enough sentiment stamps, you see how awesome these jumbo ones look from Papertrey Ink. Larger sentiment stamps are great for using on patterned papers, as they don't get lost in the underlying pattern.
Butterflies are never out of style, but they do change. One of the more recent additions to my stamp collection is patterned in script. Look for traditional stamp images in different patterns. Adhering a cut out, stamped image on a die cut of a different shape (oval) is new for me. 
This particular card was made to show how well Zing! embossing powder works. Unlike other embossing powders, the underlying cardstock colour does not influence the outcome of heat embossing. It comes in a variety of colours. Furthermore, this line of powders is much finer than most, giving more detailed heat embossed images.
Unfortunately, due to the dimension of this card, the scan doesn't do it justice. I love Dawn McVey's idea of using rhinestones on the ends of the flower parts; this makes the card sparkle. I repeatedly stamped the definition stamp to create a patterned background paper that would work with the other two patterns that came with the paper pad.
Small stamped images allow you to personalize patterned paper. Here I've used a small dragonfly and butterfly to balance my card design with a stamped border. This time I used Tea Dye Distress Ink to replace the edges that I had to remove to cut the patterned paper to card front size.
My original intention was to use the white paper flowers that I had gotten in order to use with Glimmer Mist. I now try to purchase white embellishments so that I can colour them with the products I already have to achieve perfect colour matches. Flowers can be coloured with Glimmer Mists and/or Distress Inks and pearls and rhinestones can be coloured with Copic Markers. In this case, the natural flowers perfectly matched the bone coloured cardstock so they were used "as is". Since I didn't have coordinating ribbon, I searched through my patterned papers to find a matching stripe.
I watched an inspiring tutorial, by Dawn McVey of Papertrey Ink, on how to use different patterned papers. It is important to keep in mind the pattern sizes and colours when making choices. The watch is another icon that can be used to make cards masculine.
Some patterned paper packages include die cuts and stickers. Here I cut one in half to use as a border. It works well with the solid papers that were also included in the SEI kit. The Pumice Stone Distress Ink toned down the white background of the stamped image to work with the other elements.
Keeping the currently popular sewing theme in mind, I chose elements associated with it, including the lace background, the hounds tooth and the dress form. A partial die cut served well as the base for my stamped images.
Many of the patterned papers have a vintage look that work well with many of the stamp images that I have. Antique Engravings, from Hero Arts is one of my favourite sets. In order to cut the patterned paper down to the size of an A2 card front, some of the distressed edge is removed. To compensate for that I use Distress Ink (in this case Antique Linen) to finish the newly cut edges. Placing the butterflies in the cut out circles of the card front allow the patterned paper to lift and support the wings, giving more dimension to the card.
There are so many sentiments that play on the word "sew" which make this card appropriate for any occasion. "Sew Glad We're Friends", "Sew Happy For You", etc.
I finally broke out the "Wanted" patterned paper pad from Cosmo Cricket. I thought this collection was perfect for masculine cards. 
I used the remainder of scraps I had from pieces of Stampin' Up patterned paper to make various flowers. The pot is three dimensional because I used foam squares in the centre and flat, adhesive dots on the sides, to adhere it to the card front. 
Another beautiful card with a wonderfully layered flower. Would never have thought to use twine in this way--good idea. Appreciate the bonus; just my style.
Just beautiful! Words cannot express how stunning this card is. The dry embossed paper is the perfect background for this golden frame and life like flower. I am so fortunate to have such good and talented friends.
