Oh Dear

The brown background of the patterned paper drew me to choose an image that would be appropriately stamped in brown. Sometimes the design and/or colours in patterned paper point you in the right direction.

Die Cuts from Patterned Paper

Sometimes I wonder why I don't think of some of the simplest ideas sooner. Die cutting a shape out of a patterned paper that coordinates with another patterned paper already used in the card design just helps pull everything together. I've also used the doily image another way by stamping it in a tone on tone. The green paper is actually one of the "solids" from the Basic Grey Mellow patterned paper pad.

Custom Die Cuts

Some dies cut one image in several pieces, allowing you to create the pieces in different colours. This Quickutz die is very versatile. I cut out the Spellbinder frame which supports the cake and left the die on the white cardstock when applying the Broken China Distress Ink. This created a white border around the air brushed look. I thought that this worked with the distress ink I used around the edges of the patterned paper.
