Framing 3D Die Cuts

A frame was made using a combination of an ornate square and a regular square die. The tips of the flower die cut pieces were accented with Distress Ink and rounded with the end of a thin paint brush. I rolled the paper around the brush handle. A glue dot was used to adhere the glass microbeads for a perfect flower centre.

A Touch of Texture

With the same idea in mind as the last card, I chose a circular centre for a more appropriate frame for this stamped image. The smaller frame needed more "support" so I stamped the green cardstock with a Hallowe'en background stamp. For a little "pop", I used orange microbeads to highlight the witch's hat ribbon. Little details can be added without colouring the little details in a stamped image.

Build Your Beads

My first attempt at filling this heart with microbeads was not satisfactory. I found it necessary to apply a second layer of beads (right over the first application) to get a completely filled image. In doing so, I created a lovely dimensional heart.

Bead It

I made an interesting discovery when making this card. For something different, I stamped and heat embossed the witch with clear ink and sticky embossing powder, with the intention of adhering microbeads to the stamped image. To my disappointment, the ink dried too quickly for all of the embossing powder to stick to the paper. I believe that the weight and quality of the cardstock will be a factor to consider when heat embossing. To solve the problem, I applied a tacky glue to the "bald spots" and added more microbeads where necessary.

Don't Button It, Bead It

Without an appropriate brad or button for the middle of this flower, I needed to come up with an alternative. I chose a glue dot of an appropriate size and adhered microbeads. They add both texture and a little sparkle to the card front. This paper flower particularly shows the inked flower layer edges.

A Ribbon of Beads

Since I didn't have a coordinating ribbon to use as a border, I used green microbeads on double sided tape. The little bit of bling complimented the Liquid Shimmers I used to paint the cupcakes. Once again, I left the Spellbinders die on the die cut image and applied Distress Ink to create an off white frame.

Bead It!

Can you tell that this solid bunny is one of my favourite stamps? In an attempt to use it in as many different ways as possible, I stamped and embossed it with sticky powder and adhered microbeads. This is a great way to add texture to a card.
