Cut Out
I finally remembered to use some pre-embossed cards from Die Cuts With a View. Though my initial intention was to chalk the card base, I thought this might distract the eye from the patterned paper.

Soft & Cosy
This patterned paper reminded me of a quilt so I cut it as one, in the shape of a rectangle, as a background for my card embellishments.

A Special Valentine
Having a limited number of Valentine sentiment stamps, I used a stamp from another set that fit the bill: To Someone Special.

Create a Valance
For a fancy top, I created a "valance" using a border die. Should have created more distinction between the tag die and the patterned paper underneath...

Window Box Hearts
This window box die is just one of many I have acquired from Poppystamps (a sister company of MemoryBox). By changing the blossoms from flowers to hearts, I changed the theme of the card to a Valentine.

A Tiny Bit of Texture
I love how the Sizzix Lattice embossing folder provides a textured background for the framed, stamped image. Its pattern is much smaller than that in the paper below, thus working together rather than against each other. Also, the daintiness of the pattern compliments the fine lace around the heart.

A Hanging Heart
I chose an image to stamp based on the patterns in both papers. The stamped image both compliments the top paper and contrasts enough with the bottom to coordinate well.

Not Just a Label
I used a die cut for the base of other embellishments, rather than just stamping a sentiment on it. Another idea for a fancy shape. I gave more weight to the lighter coloured, punched heart by coating it with a layer of Distress Stickles Dry Glitter. This product is also versatile because it can be coloured with ink in a sandwich bag.
