Hanging By a Thread

Just another way to incorporate hearts into a card design. Here too Distress Ink was used to "finish" the different pieces of patterned papers.

Add a Little Sparkle

I used a third DCWV embossed card base, but changed things up by cutting a smaller square and leaving a larger border around the patterned paper and accenting the square with a swirl of bling.

Window Box Hearts

This window box die is just one of many I have acquired from Poppystamps (a sister company of MemoryBox). By changing the blossoms from flowers to hearts, I changed the theme of the card to a Valentine.

A Corner Bow

I dry embossed one of three layers of this Christmas tree to give the design texture. Because of the difficulty in positioning the ribbon on the corner of the card while tying a bow, I used one piece of ribbon for the diagonal and tied a bow separately, to be adhered on top of the first piece of ribbon afterwards.

Using numbers for that special day of the month is a great idea for a specific theme:

Layering Patterned Papers

Though this looks more complicated than the previous card, it's another quick one using patterned papers from the same product line. Choosing a very small pattern size allowed me to use one piece as a thin layer behind the larger, word patterned piece of paper. Even the bat was cut from a piece of patterned paper, consequently perfectly matching the other papers used. Though the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Ink for a sharp finish, the moon was edged with Distress Black Soot for a softer look.

Frosted Snowman

The white paper I punched the snowman out of is a piece of handmade paper I received. These types of paper add beautiful texture to anything.

Punch First, Then Emboss

Yes, this is it--the last of these patterned paper scraps! Bonus? I already have a couple of Christmas cards finished for 2011.

I punched out the tree and then dry embossed it; the textured paper may not have fit in the punch. This is one advantage of using Spellbinders--the thickness of the paper is not an issue.
