The strips were cut 1" wide, along with 1" circles from the same patterned paper.  The circles were tucked under the ends of the strips to create the scalloped border.

Window Box Hearts

This window box die is just one of many I have acquired from Poppystamps (a sister company of MemoryBox). By changing the blossoms from flowers to hearts, I changed the theme of the card to a Valentine.

3D Baubles

This is another of the new embossing folders from Couture Creations. It's called Baubles. I dry embossed the base and then dry embossed 3 more of each shape. The circles were punched out with a circles punch and the heart was fussy cut.  The shapes were folded in half and the sides were adhered together to create a 3D shape. Though some dimension may be lost in an envelope, once opened, the ornaments will pop back out.

Two Step Tiles

I have used small squares of scrap patterned paper within a card design, but this time I "took it up a notch" by embellishing a square. My inspiration was found at craftprojectcentral.com. I used an egg punch to cut out the white shapes and a 1/4" circle punch to cut out the black shapes to create the "eyes" on the top left hand side. These squares of images on the front will make it suitable for me to stamp my sentiment on the inside of the card. As with most dark cardstock based cards, I cut a piece of white, text paper to line the inside to make reading the stamped sentiment easier.

Layering Patterned Papers

Though this looks more complicated than the previous card, it's another quick one using patterned papers from the same product line. Choosing a very small pattern size allowed me to use one piece as a thin layer behind the larger, word patterned piece of paper. Even the bat was cut from a piece of patterned paper, consequently perfectly matching the other papers used. Though the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Ink for a sharp finish, the moon was edged with Distress Black Soot for a softer look.

Let's Get Started

This is the first of many Hallowe'en cards I plan to share. I appreciated how rhinestones were used on Jeanne S.'s (sorry, can't make out her last name) to emulate the sparkle of the moon. I traced a circle with a pencil to provide an outline for me to adhere the embellishments. The small pattern in the paper allowed me to stamp the image/sentiment over it.

Heartlines

Though I often use embossing folders, I don't usually think to use the border ones. To get the pattern vertical, I had to place the folder first on one side of the cardstock and then on the other, putting the paper through the BigShot twice. This is another great way to use up small scraps of coordinating patterned papers.

Acrylic Blocks and Distress Inks

The first step to this card was stamping and heat embossing a script image in clear ink and embossing powder. This would resist any ink to be applied afterwards. I tried something new by inking an acrylic block with Distress Ink. Then I misted the inked block and stamped it on white cardstock to create a frame to work within. The next step was to ink and stamp the crackle background. Finally, the flower image was inked and stamped. The result was cut to fit the front of the card and the edges were inked to finish it.

A Touch Up

The versatility of white flower cannot be understated. I took one and inked the edges of it to make it match my cardstock. It's a good idea to have a good inventory of white flowers of various types and sizes. You can always colour them to suit your needs.
