Distress Inks and Copic Markers

I used the Distress Inks to softly colour the background and the flowers and a Copic marker to richly colour the leaves.

Popping Pieces

Two stamped images were required to complete this card. The first was used as the top layer on the card front. Centres from the three flowers were cut out of the second stamped image to be "popped". Though a Spica Clear Glitter Pen was used on the flowers, I was disappointed because the results were negligible.

A Dry Embossed Panel

To create more interest, I dry embossed a rectangle behind my die cut window. I attached my rectangle Spellbinder die upside down on my grey cardstock and fed the paper through the Big Shot to dry emboss, skipping the die cutting stage. The stamped image was placed under the window die cut and traced, so that I could cut it down to the size to fit.

BOO!

Not sure if I like this oval die cut for this stamped and coloured image. Though a rectangle may have been better for the house, I don't always like how they work with striped patterned papers. This label shape appealed to me because I can layer it with ovals. There's always a challenge...

Lil' Pumpkin'

 It just so happened that I had previously stamped and coloured this image so that it coordinated with this patterned paper. The background was white, so I toned it down with Sand Glimmer Mist. I used a Spellbinder Square die to cut the frame and did not cut down the stamped image so that the frame completely covered the bear. A black layer separated the frame from the embossed cardstock strip, allowing for appreciation of all of the card elements.

Supporting Squares

Kimberly Crawford made a similar card with squares to support the focal image. These were the last scraps of a striped paper that coordinated with the underlying patterned paper. I chose markers of similar colours found in the patterned paper to coordinate my stamped image.

A Little Trick

On this card I used an acrylic sentiment stamp. Though it is linear, I was able to curve it so that it perfectly fit in the space I had. Acrylic border stamps can also be adjusted in this way. This is one advantage of acrylic stamps over rubber stamps.

In Season

Got this idea from Taylor Usry. Thought no better a time of year to use my strawberry stamp that I have had for ages. Stamped the focal image directly on the border cut cardstock and then stamped, coloured and fussy cut a second image to adhere on top of the original, with foam squares. Gave me a chance to blend Copic markers on a small scale.

Three Piece Suit

When I first starting collecting these floral images by PSX, I thought their use limited due to their size. I was glad to see how another card maker was able to incorporate "pieces" of the stamped image in a card design, in an interesting way. I coloured the image first and then die cut and sliced it.

Fussy Cutting

I'm not a fan of cutting out stamped images and, consequently, appreciate stamps that come with coordinating dies. In this case, however, this image was meant to be used with this patterned paper, so patience was required. Hot air balloons are currently a popular icon and can be found in both stamps and in patterned papers.
