3 Colours of Distress Inks

Three colours of Distress Inks were used to colour this image. The properties of the inks allowed for seamless colouration. The cardstock base was chosen to match one of the Distress Inks used.

I Love Fat Ribbon!

Though it's a challenge to use, I love this wide, patterned ribbon. The layered border provided good support for my focal image. I stamped and cut out a circle separate from the doily die cut underneath for more dimension.

In Season

Got this idea from Taylor Usry. Thought no better a time of year to use my strawberry stamp that I have had for ages. Stamped the focal image directly on the border cut cardstock and then stamped, coloured and fussy cut a second image to adhere on top of the original, with foam squares. Gave me a chance to blend Copic markers on a small scale.

Flowers & Candy

When I die cut the heart out of the Basic Grey patterned paper a satin candy box came to mind. I thought it needed to be decorated with rhinestones. This plaid border punch has been in my collection for some time and I was pleased to find a way to use it in this card design.

All Torn Up

I had to have this border punch when it came out for purchase. The EK Success Binding Edge punch gives anything character. I crumpled the cardstock to make it look as though the paper was actually torn from a book.

Pumpkin Carving

The design of this card and the size of the pumpkin warranted a 6 X 6 card base. The "not so busy" patterned paper allowed me to stamp my smaller sentiment directly on it.

The Perfect Palette

For this card, I stamped on almost every element: the background, the library card and the border. Varying the sizes of the stamped images allows them to stand on their own.

Play Your Cards Right

In this case, in addition to using contrasting colours to separate the sentiment from the busy patterned paper, I used a somewhat simple element (the library card) to make the word stand out.

Matching Panels

I reduced the number of panels on my card to allow for spacing in between each one, cut from the same piece of paper. In this case I had a coordinating piece of solid paper to support the strips of patterned paper.

Tinting Paper Flowers

Though my intention was to use Glimmer Mist to colour my white paper flowers, I thought I'd try to ink only the edges of the flower. I picked up ink off of my Distress Ink pad with a small paint brush and swept it across the petals until I got the coverage I wanted. I highlighted the panels of patterned paper with white ink and paper piercing to create texture and dimension.

The Illusion of Layers

The young lady images are a perfect start for cards for people of this age. The solid images provide a wonderful base on which to build. Here I have added dimension with Stickles.

Raise It Up

Usually, my borders are the length of the card. Here I have attached a scalloped border to the proportionately smaller "popped" layer on the card and wrapped it in a ribbon bow. Just a different twist on a traditional idea.
