Dressed Up Thanks

The Spellbinder Dress Forms dies work perfectly with the Elegant Posts dies. The ribbon was coloured with the same Glimmer Mist used to create the background.

Roses

This new embossing folder by Cart-us is my favourite, not only because of the beautiful design, but because of the non-linear pattern. Linear patterns require straight cutting, otherwise the design looks crooked.

Look Out the Window!

The "Bricked" embossing folder by Sizzix perfectly support the window die from Memory Box. To enhance the detail in the bricks, I applied Silver Glimmer Mist, blotting the excess on the bricks and allowing the remainder to sit as "mortar". The "panes of glass" are automatically cut out when the window die is used and an image must be stamped on a piece of paper to be placed between the dies and the embossed paper.

Lil' Pumpkin'

 It just so happened that I had previously stamped and coloured this image so that it coordinated with this patterned paper. The background was white, so I toned it down with Sand Glimmer Mist. I used a Spellbinder Square die to cut the frame and did not cut down the stamped image so that the frame completely covered the bear. A black layer separated the frame from the embossed cardstock strip, allowing for appreciation of all of the card elements.

Tied with a Bow

Because this snowman was somewhat more whimsical, I used chunky glitter on the snowballs. I used the ribbon in a way to simulate a wrapped present.

The Best of Camp

This image, given to me, is from an Embossing Arts stamp. I coloured the image with copics, but found the background too stark, so I sprayed it with Frost Glimmer Mist. A good "Thinking of You" card, or a birthday card for the fisherman in your life.

Painted Roses

I can't say enough about the paper flowers from I Am Roses. Deb is working on carrying this product line. I chose white flowers in order to colour them as I choose, with Glimmer Mist. In this case, I used Chalkboard Cotton Candy. The flowers dried variegated, making them look very realistic. Iused a chipboard die cut heart to support them. The blurry scan (due to the dimension of the card front), does not do this card justice.

Back to Business

Managed to get crackin' and will be posting some Valentine cards for you. In making this card, I discovered that Distress Ink in Festive Berries is the same colour as Mel's Diner Glimmer Mist. I first inked the embossed paper, but thought a Valentine needed a little sparkle, so I sprayed it with the Glimmer Mist. This coordinated with the glittery heart sticker that fit perfectly into the paper pattern. I cut the bottom of the embossed paper off so the solid cardstock would better support the checked ribbon.

Candied

Because part of this dry embossed image was on a white background, I needed to highlight the raised areas. I placed the brass stencil back onto the dry embossed paper and carefully sprayed over the stencil with Glimmer Mist. Using the mist sparingly ensured that excess liquid did not build up on the surface of the stencil and drip onto the paper.

A Wild Ride

Using coordinating patterned papers from the same product line always makes card designing easier. Combing various patterns adds interest to the layout. Colouring my image with matching markers pulls everything together. A spritz of Glimmer Mist on the stamped and coloured image toned down the brightness of the white cardstock.

Shelve It

Here I've used a real paper doily to "anchor" my tag. Because it was too stark a white, I coloured the doily with Glimmer Mist, choosing a shade complimentary to the patterned paper. The butterflies were stamped in Versafine Black, coloured by blending Distress Inks and cut out before being adhered to the tag. The tag was cut from a Spellbinder Labels 11 die.

F is for Focus

Though individual letters are often used for monograms, here I have used an "F" to bring attention to the sentiment on the card. It was necessary to make sure that the frame of the letter was larger than the flower to the right so that these two elements worked together, rather than against each other.

Cameos

A very popular icon at this time is the cameo. Though this is an older stamp from PSX, CTMH has a new stamp set out, while you will find this image in patterned paper of other companies. Here the Spellbinder Classic Scalloped Ovals Large and the Classic Ovals Small perfectly frame the image. To make the seam binding and paper flower match, I tinted them with Frost Glimmer Mist. I found that as the paper flower and "ribbon" dried, the colour faded--less is more.

Flock a Flower Centre

To recreate the "fuzzy" centre of a real daisy, I found a dimensional glue dot and Flower Soft to work perfectly. I chose not to stamp my sentiment on solid cardstock because I thought it may cover too much of the patterned paper. I was pleased with the results of stamping my sentiment directly on the patterned paper. The right choice of font will allow the sentiment to stand out. Glimmer Mist allowed me to colour the white paper flower and seam binding to match my cardstock. I plan to purchase white flowers in various shapes and sizes to use with my many colours of Glimmer Mist and to dye white seam binding to match too.

Dying Lace

I learned something while trying to make lace that coordinated with my patterned paper. When dying the lace with Glimmer Mist, blotting the lace in an attempt to make it dry faster, lightened the final result. I reinked the lace and allowed it more drying time.

Fill a Vase

The Close to My Heart stamp set with vases is a "must have". It can be filled in so many ways and works very well with a long card design. In this case, I added texture to the card with a paper flower and ribbon bow. Since the "white" in the patterned paper wasn't as bright as the base cardstock, I sprayed the entire face of the card with Pearl Glimmer Mist, bringing the white tones closer in colour.
