A Special Birthday

This was Dorothy's birthday card. I inked part of a "Happy Birthday" stamp because I thought the font used for "Birthday" was appropriate for the theme of the card.

Tree Trimming

Gone Rustic

This card isn't anything like the card that inspired me to make it, but that's a good thing. All of the elements seemed to have the same "feel" to them, right down to the border stamp I partially used to create a corner in the top, right hand side. Using a safety pin to hand a tie from a ribbon knot allows the tag to swing, giving the card movement. An eyelet is recommended to avoid tearing the tag.

Elegant Posts

I finally broke open my Spellbinder Elegant Posts. This is just one of many cards I'm sure I will create with these gorgeous die cuts. I thought that the Nested Hearts were along the same style so I incorporated the die cuts in the same card layout. To add more fine details, I included a paper flower, sprayed with Glimmer Mist in a colour close to the Distess Ink used.

Dying Lace

I learned something while trying to make lace that coordinated with my patterned paper. When dying the lace with Glimmer Mist, blotting the lace in an attempt to make it dry faster, lightened the final result. I reinked the lace and allowed it more drying time.

This die cut is a very large one which makes "give thanks". I cut it down to size to accommodate my Thank You cards.

Patterned Rabbits

I used the same die to cut this bunny, but used a more noticeably patterned paper. The solid rectangle behind it supports the image. Be careful to note which side your pattern is on your paper when die cutting to make sure that the die cut turns out the way you want it, i.e. facing the direction that you would like.

Downsizing

I used another Crafter's Workshop Template to reduce the pattern size of this older piece of patterned paper. I placed the template over the patterned paper and applied the Glimmer Mist by sprayed above the paper, allowing the mist to fall to the paper surface. This avoided having the Glimmer Mist build up on the template and run on to the paper. I learned to choose a Glimmer Mist colour that would sufficiently contrast with the patterned paper to make sure that the pattern in the stencil would stand out.

When Thin is In

Here's a good example of where regular Stickles are more appropriate than Distress Stickles. I was pleased with the thin line of I was able to get on the embossed bow.

Hinge It

I needed something as a third component for the face of this card. To compliment the large flower and the framed sentiment I chose a die cut hinge. Elements of a card front should vary enough in size and shape so that they don't compete for attention, but work well together.
