Happy Hallowe'en

I loved the card I made for Christmas using this die and couldn't wait to create something for Hallowe'en. This patterned paper is the perfect back drop for the sign.

Broomsticks and ...

The patterned background if this card is actually made from three strips of scrap paper. I balanced the elements on the front of the card by using 5 of complimentary sizes: a broom, a bow, a sentiment, a hat and the brads.

In Print

I really like the results of stamping solid images on text. Because this image wasn't completely solid I had to make sure that it was well inked with a substantial amount of colour.

Mr. Bones

I chose this image, not only because I like to use a variety in my card making, but because it's unlike many others. It's more of a vertical image than horizontal. Keep this in mind when making your stamp choices too.

Just Boo-t-ful

I gave this card dimension by first stamping the boots on one piece of rectagular, orange cardstock and then stamping the same image again on a piece of white cardstock. After heat embossing, colouring and cutting it out, I adhered the cut out to the rectangle with foam squares. Heat embossing provides boundaries for colouring images. To avoid smearing on the shimmery cardstock, I stamped with Staz On ink.

A Wooden Haunted House

I made the same die cut, but gave it a wood grain texture using an embossing folder. There are many ideas for using the same die so they are well worth the investment.

A Recycled Border

I keep all of my paper scraps from the same product line together so that even the smallest piece won't go to waste. I had a strip of green paper left over from trimming down a piece of patterned paper and it worked perfectly as a border on this card.

A Sign of Hallowe'en

This set of stamps from Papertrey Ink is so versatile. A hanging sign can be made for almost any card theme. I love that the pumpkin stamps the reverse image; this allowed me to use a piece of the orange background paper for the pumpkin sign.

Half & HaLf

I found a partial dry embossed image and, rather than waste it, put it to use on the front of this card. For balance, I stamped the bats directly on the card front and "tied" the sides together with a punched out moon.

A Wild Ride

Using coordinating patterned papers from the same product line always makes card designing easier. Combing various patterns adds interest to the layout. Colouring my image with matching markers pulls everything together. A spritz of Glimmer Mist on the stamped and coloured image toned down the brightness of the white cardstock.

Smokin'

This is likely the fastest card I have ever put together. I used a patterned paper from a pad and trimmed it to fit the card base. I inked the edges of both the patterned paper and the card base for consistency. I took advantage of the "white space" to stamp my sentiment.

A Bejewelled Haunted House

I took this card "to another level" by cutting out a second house from another sheet of patterned paper and adhering it to the full piece of patterned paper with foam squares. For a stained glass window effect, I filled in the windows with Stickles.

Walnut Stain Ink, wood grain embossed paper and kraft cardstock were intentionally used for a consistent theme. Punching the edge of the patterned grid paper made it realistic too.

"Planting" A Large Floral Image

I thought that the grid patterned paper grounded the large floral image. Stamping the image and the sentiment in the same colour of ink (which is also found in the patterned paper) pulls the elements of the card together.

A Statement Corner

I've had this corner stamp in my "to do" box, so I thought I should use it as planned. A statement corner is enhanced by a substantial ribbon and bow of the same colour. This Christmas card could be done in different colours for a card of another theme.

Lucky Ladybug

I also like ladybugs and since they are a symbol of good luck, I thought this a perfect image for such a card. I do have a ladybug stamp, but thought it a good idea to use this sticker I've had for a while. They say that stickers eventually lose their adhesiveness, so best to use them up. The green patterned paper seemed like the perfect background for the card design.

Landing Butterflies

I enjoyed incorporating graph paper into various card designs. I've been meaning to pay my butterflies the attention they deserve, so I chose one for the focal point of this card. The image was stamped in black and coloured by blending Distress Inks. Subsequently, the image was cut out and adhered to the graph paper with foam squares. Distress Inks were also used to soften the edges of the patterned papers.
