If you don't have actual doilies, the Spellbinder pennant dies are very similar in nature. Though this is square and not round, it still has the same "lacey-ness" I was looking for. A die cut doily will provide a smoother surface on which to stamp an image. Once again, I've used a variety of buttons to complete my card design.
